Honoring a Radio Icon: KVI’s Big Mike Talks About the Upcoming Tribute to Bob Rivers

Bob Rivers Tribute Show

On a recent fill-in segment of The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, Ari Hoffman’s producer Big Mike shared heartfelt insights into the life and legacy of Seattle radio icon Bob Rivers, while announcing an upcoming tribute event that’s set to bring the community together in celebration and charity.

For over 25 years, Bob Rivers was the heartbeat of Seattle’s morning radio through The Bob Rivers Show, captivating listeners across the Pacific Northwest with his razor-sharp wit, hilarious parody songs, and infectious humor.

Beyond the airwaves, he was a devoted mentor, philanthropist, and supporter of local artists and causes, leaving an enduring impact on the region’s media and entertainment scene.

Bob passed away earlier this year, and after a private memorial, the radio community—tight-knit and collaborative despite friendly rivalries—has rallied for a public celebration of his life.

As Big Mike explains, “We’re in competition for listeners and advertisers, but at the end of the day, we’re on the same side.” This event embodies that spirit, inviting friends, family, fans, and industry peers to honor Bob’s passion for creativity, laughter, and community.

The Tribute to Bob Rivers promises an unforgettable evening on Thursday, November 13th at the Snoqualmie Casino Ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the show kicking off at 7:30 PM.

Highlights include live performances by Spike and the Impalers, Heart by Heart, and comedian Andrew Rivers (Bob’s son), alongside appearances from The Bob Rivers Show personalities and surprise guests.

Hosted by Bob’s broadcasting colleagues and close friends, expect a perfect blend of nostalgia, humor, and heartfelt tributes.

This is a ticketed event, with all proceeds benefiting the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank and the Summer Stars Foundation—causes that mirror Bob’s generous spirit. “By attending, fans will not only celebrate Bob’s extraordinary legacy but also continue his mission of giving back,” Big Mike noted.

He’s already bought his tickets and urges listeners to join: “This is not a KVI endorsement, but an opportunity to celebrate a true icon and contribute to charity.”

Big Mike’s connection to Bob runs deep. As a student at Green River College (Go Gators!), he took broadcasting classes taught by Bob at the college radio station KGRG FM. Bob mentored him, sparking a passion for audio tech, podcasting, and more. “He took me under his wing… Bob taught me a lot about how to be the broadcaster I want to be,” Big Mike shared. “I miss him dearly as a mentor, friend, and fan.”

Don’t miss this chance to laugh, reminisce, and give back. Grab your tickets HERE or follow Big Mike on socials (@MikeOnKVI on X, Instagram, and Facebook) for details.
