National political activist Scott Presler has spent years building a reputation for grassroots voter-registration work in some of the most challenging political environments in the country. This week, he brought his efforts to Washington State—an area many conservatives have written off as a political lost cause.
In an interview on Sunday with Talk Radio 570 KVI’s Ari Hoffman, Presler shared why he believes Washington is ripe for engagement, how voter-registration strategy can flip even deep-blue states, and what he hopes to learn from local communities during his multi-day tour.

Activists Attempted to Cancel the Event Earlier in the Week
Presler’s visit came after a turbulent lead-up to the Gig Harbor rally. Earlier in the week, activists attempted to shut down the “Super Signer Rally” at Gig Harbor High School, an event hosted by Let’s Go Washington and originally featuring Hoffman, with Presler added once he announced his Washington tour alongside the state GOP to register voters and collect signatures for Initiative Measure No. IL26-126, a citizen-led effort that would require Voter ID and Proof of Citizenship to vote.
As you may have heard, there has been some miscommunication with the School Administration at Gig Harbor HS. We are working with them to get everything figured out, but the event is still on! The Peninsula School District initially approved the event on Oct. 31 before informing organizers on Nov. 6 that the event was unauthorized following pushback from local left wing activists. After days of back-and-forth and public pressure, the district issued final approval on Wednesday.

The rally supported two initiatives Let’s Go Washington is currently gathering signatures for: IL26-001, which ensures parental rights by expanding parents’ access to student records, and IL26-638, protecting fairness in girls’ sports by barring male students from competing in girls’ athletic programs. Despite attempts to cancel the event, district officials ultimately confirmed that the rally was approved to proceed as planned.

“The Only Way We’re Going to Save the Country”
Presler traced his motivation back to his home state of Virginia, a place he watched shift from reliably red to solidly blue in less than a generation.
“Democrats were recruiting hundreds of thousands of new voters, and the Republican Party became stagnant,” he said. “A once reliably red state for George Bush became an Obama state overnight. The only way that we’re going to save our country, and dare I say, turn purple states red or blue states purple, is through voter registration.”
His early years of activism began against that backdrop. Today, he says the stakes are just as high.
“Donald Trump is president. Republicans have the House and Senate. But we just got wiped out in the November election. I’m worried about the midterms. How do we get big, beautiful turnout, especially in blue states like Washington?”
For Presler, the answer lies in delivering what he insists voters want most: election integrity.
Petitions, Proof of Citizenship, and “Giving People What They Want”
Standing at Gig Harbor High School during the interview, Presler gestured to volunteers collecting signatures for a statewide initiative requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote.
He credited Rep. Jim Walsh, WA GOP chair, for championing the effort but emphasized that citizen action, not legislators, is driving the movement.
“If legislators in Seattle aren’t going to give you what you want, then we’ll do it through citizen-initiated petitions,” he said. “People have the power.”
Washington isn’t the only state in Presler’s sights. He says he’s heading to Oregon to end automatic vote-by-mail and California to put voter ID on the ballot.
Across the West Coast, he says, residents feel unheard. “We need to stop biological men in women’s sports, give parents parental choice, and give voters election integrity. That’s why I’m here.”
Learning Washington State—“A Sponge, Not a Know-It-All”
Presler acknowledged he’s still learning the political landscape of Washington.
“I’m a little ignorant when it comes to Washington State politics,” he admitted with a laugh. “That’s why I’m here in the flesh, to listen.”
Over the next five days, he plans nine events focused on hearing directly from voters.
In contrast with stereotypes about Republican outreach, Presler says his strategy is built on inclusion, addition, and showing up.
“Washington needs change. And the only way we’re going to do that is through addition, not subtraction. I want to build a big, beautiful tent that galvanizes voters together.”
Overcoming Voter Apathy: “We Won the Popular Vote”
Asked what he would say to discouraged Washington voters, especially those who believe elections are rigged, Presler didn’t hesitate.
“Our biggest problem going into 2024 was convincing voters that we could win,” he said. “Everyone told me, ‘Scott, they’re going to cheat.’ But guys, we won. We won the popular vote.”
He argued that turnout, even in deep-blue states, played a crucial role.
“If Washington, Oregon, and California voters didn’t show up, President Trump wouldn’t have won the popular vote.”
Now, Presler says, the challenge is keeping 2024’s voters engaged through 2026 and beyond.
“We’re a vote-by-mail state, and there isn’t a lot of election integrity; that’s why I’m here. We need people voting in every election, not just presidential years.”
Lessons From New Jersey’s Jewish Community
Presler recently returned from voter-registration efforts in heavily Orthodox Jewish areas of New Jersey, communities he calls “completely untapped.”
“They enjoyed being seen and heard. Democrats are successful because they say to minority communities: I see you, I hear you, I acknowledge you. Republicans need to do better at that.”
Whether in New Mexico’s Native communities, Pennsylvania’s Amish country, or New Jersey’s Jewish neighborhoods, Presler says the lesson is the same: show up, or you don’t earn the vote.
A Call to Action for Washington
As the interview wrapped, Presler issued a direct appeal to Washington voters.
“We have until January 2nd to collect 350,000 signatures for proof of citizenship for voter registration. Everyone tells me they want election integrity, well, now it’s time to act.”
Presler urged listeners to download petition sheets from the Washington State GOP website, gather signatures from neighbors, and mail them to the GOP office.
“Go from being a watcher and listener of Ari to being an activist. Turn your anger into positive action.”
He also encouraged locals to join him at events across the state.
A Visit That Brings “A Ray of Hope”
As the conversation ended, Presler expressed gratitude for the platform and enthusiasm for Washington’s grassroots energy.
“Thank you for the opportunity to be here,” he said. “People have the power, and together we can create change.”
For many conservative voters in Washington, his visit was exactly the kind of jolt they’ve been waiting for. And for a state increasingly hungry for political engagement, Scott Presler hopes this week marks the beginning of something much bigger.
