WAGOP Chair Rep. Jim Walsh Calls Out AG Nick Brown’s “Lawless” Worker Proposal

NEWS: Rep. Jim Walsh targets fentanyl crisis with legislation to crack down on distributors

On The Morning Ride with Phil Vandervort, Washington State Republican Party Chair and State Rep. Jim Walsh (R–Grays Harbor) joined the show to discuss what he calls growing “lawlessness” in Olympia and to highlight key issues heading into the November 4th general election. Walsh criticized State Attorney General Nick Brown’s proposed “Immigrant Worker Protection Act,” saying it would force Washington employers to interfere with federal immigration law. “He’s trying to blur the difference between legal immigrants and illegal aliens,” Walsh said, arguing that the measure would put local businesses at risk of violating federal rules. The conversation also touched on a recent federal court ruling striking down a state law that would have required Catholic clergy to report confessions of abuse. Walsh called the law “patently unconstitutional,” comparing the protected nature of confession to doctor-patient or attorney-client privilege. With ballots now arriving in mailboxes across the state, Walsh urged voters to stay engaged in local school board elections, pointing listeners to the Washington GOP’s voter resource page at WaGOP.org. The site features information about conservative school board candidates who, he says, “want to get politics out of classrooms and focus on basic education.”
