“It was never my intention” to get into politics, says first time Seattle candidate

King Co. Election drop box

KVI’s John Carlson interviews Seattle City Council candidate, Tanya Woo, who is leading her opponent, incumbent Tammy Morales, in the 2nd council district after the first night of ballot returns, 54% to 45%.

Woo tells KVI she knocked on thousands of doors and people are deeply concerned about public safety, homelessness and lack of action on the fentanyl crisis.  Woo says her first priority is public safety with an all of the above approach involving more police officers, officer accountability and getting faster police response times for 911 calls. She thinks more police presence will reduce the property crime–like shoplifting and organized retail theft by repeat criminals–that so many small businesses are enduring in Seattle.
