Medal of Honor Recipient Bud Hawk

Bud Hawk Honored Today on Bainbridge

Bud Hawk is a recipient of the Medal of Honor from WWII. President Truman came to Washington in 1945 to make the presentation to him. Bud grew up on Bainbridge Island. By an Act of Congress the Rolling Bay Post Office was renamed today after Bud Hawk as a tribute to him. In addition Bainbridge Island has declared February 26th to be Bud Hawk Day. After the war Bud Hawk served as an educator in Kitsap County. He is now retired and resides in Bremerton.
