Husband and wife lost both cars to Washington's winter wind and rain storm on November 17, 2009. In Kingston, WA, around 4:00a.m. the couple awoke to a devistating sight. Their large maple had crashed down onto both of their vehicles.

Looks like an alder to me, I think you need to get your trees straight.
