For Immediate Release: Motor home fire on Sherman Hill

(Poulsbo, North Kitsap County) Poulsbo Fire Department and Navy Region Northwest responded to a motor home fire in the Sherman Hill area last night around 10:30. When first units arrived, they found a fully engulfed motor home parked 30 feet from the residence. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes. No one injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation.

The motor home belonged to a 32 year old Poulsbo man. He and his two children were home at the time of the fire. The man said, “I got up to use the bathroom and noticed a glow coming from the window. When I looked out, I saw flames shooting from the motor home roof.” His girl friend arrived home a short time later to find fire crews mopping up the remains of the charred vehicle. Damage estimates are not yet available but the 32 foot Gulfstream motor home was a total loss and there was heat damage to the nearby Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The owner was insured.
