As darkness fades to light, I awaken to a valley of fog,
rubbing my eyes and looking again,
that is not fog, it is water!
A flowing lake of brown, icy cold, debris laden water, uprooting trees, buildings and lives in the valley below.
Tangled trees trapped at cross roads,
walls and doors can't stop the rush,
desperate people loosing treasures of the past.
What of the animals, the sheep, the cows, the horses of the pastoral fields?
More water dumps down from the sky.
Huge piles of dirty snow melting near by.
These are the things that make me cry.

I was wondering what it would be like awaiting the light of day to see what damage had been done. Your words expressed it well.
