For Immediate Release: Santa and the fire engine visits a Poulsbo family today
Firefighters and Santa delivered gifts to a grateful Poulsbo grandma and her four grandchildren today.
Melodie Marvel knew that, more than anything else, her grandchildren wanted to see Santa this Christmas. So when the fire engine arrived in their driveway, the children quickly ran to greet Santa. Marvel said “The kids lost their dad two years ago, so seeing Santa today is extra special!”
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, firefighters have delivered over a thousand pounds of food to local families and to Fishline, Poulsbo’s food bank. Public Information Officer Jody Matson says, “This year we received a tremendous amount of support from the community. Folks were standing on the sidewalk, waiting for Santa and the fire engine. They weren’t just holding a few cans to donate to the food bank, they were holding boxes filled to the rim. Residents here are very generous. All this was also possible because of a lot of teamwork within the department. From the volunteer firefighters, to the Community Action Fund (a fund set up to help individuals in times of need), and to assistance from Local 2819, we were able to make the holidays a little bit brighter .”
