"Driving while talking on a cell phone is worse than driving drunk," says John Medina, author of "Brain Rules" (www.brainrules.net). The Washington State law going into effect on July 1 requiring hands-free devices will not solve the problem. The brain simply can't multi-task.

Effective July 1, 2008 holding a cell phone while driving is a $124 fine. The law will be a secondary infraction just like seat belts. They have to pull you over for something else like speeding and then they can give you two tickets!

i personally don't think this law is going to solve any problems, you still have people reading a paper while driving, putting on makeup, shaving ect, why just pick on one thing i doubt it will make much of a impact. what happened to just driving
