I am the proud Mom of two boys, who happen to be really good at what they do. Let me explain.........

Kurtis Barry and Ky Barry (Barry brothers) have been participating in rodeos since they could be put on a horse!
Kurtis is seventeen and Ky is fourteen. They have many accomplishments in their rodeo life. They have won about 180 buckles and 20 All-Around cowboy and event saddles. They also team rope together. Ky is the header and Kurtis is the heeler.

Kurtis Barry, is a junior at Auburn High School in Auburn , Washington. He won the Washington state High School Rodeo Association (WSHSRA) in the calf roping competition. He also took third in the team roping competition, along with his team roping partner, Bo Segerman (of South Prairie, WA)!
Kurtis was named the calf roping champion at the WSHSRA Finals in Ellensburg, Washington on Memorial day this year.
Kurtis also received an event champion patch to put on his official competition shirt for the Wrangler All Star team at the Nationals.
Next year Kurtis will apply for the many college scholarships that are awarded to the contestants in their senior year of high school. The scholarships are based on there applications and verbal interviews.

Ky Barry is an 8th grader at Cascade Middle school in Auburn, Washington . Ky's accomplishments this year include: Reserve Champion calf roper, Reserve Champion team roper, Reserve Champion goat tyer, 4th place ribbon roper, and he is also the Champion Rookie All-Around cowboy! Whew. Ky had a real busy year.
Ky will also be going to the Wrangler Division of the Washington State Junior High school rodeo (WSJHR) this year.
Ky's finals were held in Milton-Freewater, Oregon this year.

Every year, both of the boys volunteer at 'Corey's day on the the farm' at the Kitsap County fairgrounds.
It happens the Monday and Tuesday following Mothers Day. It is an event where special needs children come by the busloads to enjoy riding a horse or petting the animals. They have been volunteering for many years now.

To qualify to go to the finals you must compete at the state high school qualifying rodeos and the state finals rodeo. You also have to have and keep good grades. Contestants from 41 states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Australia will compete.
Kurtis and Ky will both be traveling with teammates to New Mexico for the Nationals. Ky's finals are the 4th annual Wrangler Junior High School Rodeo held in Gallup starting June 30th - July 5th. Kurtis' finals are the 60th annual National High School Rodeo Finals (NHSFR) and they are held in Farmington and will start on July 20th - July 27th.
Along with great rodeo competition and a chance to meet new friends from around the world. NHSFR contestants have the opportunity to represent their team in a volleyball and basketball tournaments, enjoy nightly contestant dances including a Cowboy prom. They also have a talent contest, compete in the NRA rifle shooting competition, and test their skills in a knowledge bowl. There is a also a western trade show (for the parents to shop!).

There Dad will be driving Kurtis and Ky and the horses to New Mexico. Wish them luck!
