Rebecca Griego was gunned down by her estranged boyfriend on the UW campus yesterday morning even though she'd filed restraining orders against him. But what real protective power does a restraining order have? It's just a piece of paper after all! Could she have taken more drastic steps to protect herself, like, say, buy a gun?
