Seattle $15 wage plan spurs legal debate about definition of business ‘franchise’

John Carlson interviews a spokesman for Working Washington (WorkingWA.org), Sage Wilson, because the group says locally owned franchise restaurants (i.e. fast food establishments that are locally owned) are the same and an equivalent to the franchise parent company corporation. The distinction is key to a pending legal fight over Seattle’s $15 minimum wage plan which was filed this week by the restaurant trade group, Independent Franchise Association.
