NORTH BEND, Wash. - Police have arrested a suspect in the brutal stabbing and sexual assault of a woman at a North Bend restaurant.

Capt. Nick Almquist of the Snoqualmie-North Bend police says a 41-year-old North Bend man was arrested Tuesday night as a result of the investigation.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was leaving work the night of March 9 when she was forced back inside by a man who stabbed her, bound her wrists and feet with duct tape and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was the last employee in the restaurant and was exiting from the back door when the assault occurred.

Snoqualmie Police Chief Steve McCulley says even though she had been stabbed, the victim somehow freed herself to call 911 and tell officers what happened to her.

The woman was taken to the hospital after the attack, and she is now recovering.
