McDermott keeps her eye on the pie
Undisputed Seattle pie queen Kate McDermott swung by the KVI studio on Monday to pay Scott Carty a visit. Dubbed "the Queen of American Pie" by Alison Swan Parente, the founder of The School of Artisan Food at Welbeck in Nottinghamshire, McDermott learned how to make traditional hand formed English Pork Pies as a student there. "I was there over during Thanksgiving and did a "pie social" for the students on Thanksgiving night," McDermott said. "Made lots of pies, and like in the states, there were only crumbs left at the end."
